District nurses
The district nurses provide care to patients that need nursing care within their own home. You can contact them directly on St Helens 01744 621700 or Wigan 01942 481967. 0300 707 7700
Health visitors
The health visitors provide screening of pre-school children and give advice to their parents. They are also involved in the care of our elderly population.
Midwives
We have a team of community midwives from Whiston Hospital who visit the practice and help us with our Antenatal Clinics. Wigan Midwives are a direct referral WWL Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust | Maternity Self Referral Form
Reception team
Our reception staff are there to help you with queries about prescriptions, appointments, results etc. Please note they can only pass on messages from the doctor / nurse whether a result is normal or not. They cannot interpret the result or give you further advice. They cannot give medical advice but can signpost you to the relevant person or team.
Please remember that if you are kept waiting, or the receptionist seems to be asking you one or two questions, they are trained to follow a policy which is aimed at making the most efficient use of doctors’ time. To help the receptionist judge the urgency of your request, and many others, please try to give them all necessary details.
